Born in 1954 Australian artist Heather Davis has been constantly exploring the richness and variety of the Australian landscape in her art and living close to Sydney’s bushland has a huge impact on her work.
During her painting career spanning 30 years, Heather has discovered a love of drawing with ink /paint and the use of a meandering line though-out each work and a kinship with John Olsen's comment "What joy there is in hearing yourself think, and to make that thinking into ink".
Painting with a brush attached to a bamboo stick has enabled Heather much freer line movement throughout her works and has lead to her present exploration of mark making which has developed into a form of abstract art with bold use of line and colour,
Heather endeavours to convey her immediate feelings regarding a subject using spontaneity and fluidity of movement throughout her paintings and usually works with acrylics and mixed mediums on canvas or paper.
